So I used to do magic. Most people that know me, know that. Some know exactly how much I DID magic. I joined the International Brotherhood of Magicians at something like 14. I went to competitions. Conventions. Lectures. Meetings. I ate that stuff up.
Then I stopped. I still do it from time to time when the drinks are piling up and someone finds a deck of cards but, I don’t actively study magic anymore. I just kind of moved on. I went to college. I picked up new hobbies and talents along the way but magic is still what I think I am the best at.
Above is a show-reel for Dynamo. I first met Steve at the Winter Carnival of Magic in probably 2001 or 2002. He was amazing then and still is. Seeing someone you used to magic with in hotel lobbies when you were a teenager reach this level of success in something you used to be obsessed with is both incredibly exciting and kind of a slap to my ego.
He kept with it and I didn’t. Honest to God, one of the only things that keeps me up at night is the thought that I could have been in ADIDAS commercials doing magic tricks to David Beckham. Although, I guess my life rules if that is all that keeps me up at night.
